Technical presentation discussed the use of Acrow modular bridges as an alternative to structure replacement
(Parsippany, New Jersey) – 28 September 2015 – Acrow Bridge, a leading international bridge engineering and supply company, recently presented a technical session on using prefabricated modular bridges as an option to full structure replacement. The presentation was made by William Smith, Southeast Regional Manager, on September 17 at the Fall Conference of the Louisiana Parish Engineers and Supervisors Association (LPESA) in Lake Charles, LA.
“The modular design of Acrow bridges make them a perfect choice when a cost-effective and rapid permanent bridging solution is needed,” said Bill Killeen, President and CEO of Acrow Bridge. “Our customizable components can be engineered for many different applications, have an estimated life span of 75-100 years and are virtually maintenance-free.”
In addition to permanent structures, Acrow bridges can also be used as temporary detours during construction to stay on or ahead of schedule, control costs and provide a safe and dependable route for local residents and area businesses. While they can be rented, state DOTs are increasingly purchasing the bridge components which are easy to assemble, disassemble, transport, store and customize, for future use in the event of emergency or planned construction.
